The Sianankanga Trust

From the Sianankanga Trust:
Life skills have been learned to keep village chickens, and these will be passed on to Sianakanga's children as a way to earn income. There is no need to go fetch water from long distances now that there is a connection to pipe water.

Home-based care-trained supporters train other people within their community and also continue learning from WHIZ's trust development officer. In May 2009, 6 caregivers came for this training and talked about HIV/AIDS during pregnancy and the affects it has. They were trained in the mode of transmission and prevention.

Community Health: visitations to OVCs, HFC involvement, nutrition program, etc.

OVC Visits/month:                        2

Ten mosquito nets were distributed in May 2009.

OVC supporters are in need of umbrellas during the rainy season and exercise books to help OVCs with educational support.

Wells: how many drilled, access to clean water, if no well - what people do to clean the water, etc.

No bore hole here, but pipe water is accessible. There is a dam in Zimba which WHIZ helped the trust get connected to. Now there is no need to drill a bore hole.

Looking Forward: things on the horizon, prayer requests, praises, etc.

  1. Pray for our clients that God may prolong their lives.
  2. Pray for the HBC caregivers that they remain committed to work within the trust, and people it affects.
  3. Prayer for the trust that it grows to help each and every orphan and vulnerable child.
